[ she turns her face away as subtly as she can and lifts her hand to wipe at her eye. she hates the fact that she's crying. she doesn't want to cry. how many times has she cried since waking up as half herself?
she sniffles and clears her throat. ]
That's nice of you. [ it comes out quieter than she'd like. ]
[ she wants to know why he's helping her—the real reason behind it—but katherine is stupidly scared of that reason. she's spent far too long feeling scared that she wants to not feel it for just once.
so, she turns her face away from him, uncaring if it makes it obvious she's crying and avoiding him, and wipes hard at her face and controls her breathing. she may not be able to turn herself back into a vampire, but she can control her crying.
when she feels better, she turns to face him with her gaze down. ] Are you going to eat the rest of this food? I doubt you have blood stored away in one of your bags.
Ew. [ she scrunches up her face in disgust. ] Who willingly puts that in their body?
[ she honestly wouldn't be surprised if he did.
the secret fact is: she doesn't want him to leave. she hadn't wanted him to leave to get this spread, but she had wanted him to give her space all the same. she had wanted to test the waters, see if he was true about wanting to stick around and help her despite the difficult road ahead.
she's surprised when she shouldn't be that he means it. ]
[ she feels tight-lipped when she says it. while stefan has so far proven himself to be trustworthy, he still has so many hoops to jump through before her shoulders ease up in carrying five hundred years' worth of tension.
she sighs, giving in. ] And pastries. I like a lot of pastries. Croissants with chocolate inside are really nice.
I don't think I'd wear that amount of pastries well anymore.
[ katherine does realise she's being a debbie downer, yes. she doesn't want to be, but she can't help it. he's the first person who has known her as who she was before this happened that she's been able to talk to about it.
she looks down and brushes her fingers against her towel. ] But it sounds nice.
[ it almost sounds like she's rejecting him again. a part of her wants to. maybe a series of rejections will finally send him back to mystic falls... even though, deep down, she doesn't want that.
[ a part of her most definitely would. it's not to be cruel... although, could it be considered cruel if she wanted to see how long he took until he either snuck out to buy one or begged?
she looks at him and smiles. ]
Seeing you get all gushy over an eclair sounds like fun.
[ it was never important, but katherine doesn't say it. anything stefan gives her now is important. anyone showing her a slip of kindness and opening up to her is important. the fact that it's stefan triples its importance. ]

[ she knows he has a sweet tooth for her face. she tugs at her towel, brushing her hair over her shoulder. ]
[ that would be because none of his friends really appreciate him when he does talk. katherine, well... she'd like to think she's the complete opposite to the lot of them.
she looks at him expectantly, unperturbed by him stating her contradiction. ]

[ she answers that quickly and without requiring any thought. there's no point in deceiving him. she likes chocolate and has always liked chocolate. she would kill everyone for a slice of the richest chocolate out there.
brushing her hands against her towel, she rests her hand on the bed and leans closer to him. ]
[ leave the gun and take the cannoli, stefan. katherine smiles, liking his answer. it's very him; katherine has hidden her heritage for most of her life, not wanting anyone to trace her back to being katerina petrova and uncovering all of her secrets.
she adjusts the top of her towel. ]
I should probably get dressed. I get cold a lot easier as a human.
[ she stands up, clutching her towel at her chest. she doesn't want him to be too nice to her as she'll grow too used to it. it's a nice side of him, one that she doesn't think she deserves to see. ]
Or else I'm going to expect you bringing me dinner every night.
[ she walks over to the bathroom and closes the door, but accidentally leaves some of the door ajar. (is it really an accident when it comes to katherine?) ]
