[ leave the gun and take the cannoli, stefan. katherine smiles, liking his answer. it's very him; katherine has hidden her heritage for most of her life, not wanting anyone to trace her back to being katerina petrova and uncovering all of her secrets.
she adjusts the top of her towel. ]
I should probably get dressed. I get cold a lot easier as a human.
[ she stands up, clutching her towel at her chest. she doesn't want him to be too nice to her as she'll grow too used to it. it's a nice side of him, one that she doesn't think she deserves to see. ]
Or else I'm going to expect you bringing me dinner every night.
[ she walks over to the bathroom and closes the door, but accidentally leaves some of the door ajar. (is it really an accident when it comes to katherine?) ]
( he doesn't have time to say anything else before she disappears into the bathroom. the door doesn't close all the way and stefan can't help but look over.
he pulls his eyes away quickly but then he finds himself looking again, trying to glimpse something between the crack of the door. )
[ she sighs it out, keeping her back to him. as far as she's concerned, he's looking at a wall or the food on the bed.
she wipes herself dry, even though she'd dried while sitting on the bed beside him. she drops her towel and grabs her clothes from the vanity, and slowly starts to dress—panties, jeans and a shirt. ]
Your kindness is going to get you in trouble one day.
[ sliding the door open, she tugs on her shirt and steps back inside of the room. it's a little different standing in here without her towel wrapped around her and the excuse of food to ignore the fact she's sharing a motel room with stefan. her hair is still wet and leaves patches of wetness against the front and back of her shirt. it's very obvious she's not wearing a bra.
she's very aware that there's one bed and she's not quite sure what to do with herself, so she brushes her hands against the front of her shirt and ventures inside of the room. walking towards the bedside table, she opens the first draw and rifles through it. ]
It will. Kindness always costs something, Stef.
[ she pulls out a bible and flips the pages, showing it to him with a judgemental brow. ] Who reads this rubbish?
( he's not going to stop being kind because it comes back at him a few times. he doesn't think he could. damon's the type who won't be nice because it's going to cost him something. stefan's going to be kind because he thinks people deserve it. )
I think it's supposed to bring people comfort or something. They always put them in hotels.

( but he's going to let her have it for the moment. )

( stefan laughs because, well, he likes that she thinks he's cute.
he snaps out of it when she adjusts her towel. )
Okay. I can turn the heat up too, if you'd like. Make it warmer in here for when you're out.
