it's a little mechanical spider that he made all on his own that he wants to show to tony. it's the thing that's going to get him into college… one of them, anyway. he hasn't really looked into where he can apply and hope to get into next year. he kind of figured maybe he'd fall into it?
tapping in the passcode to enter tony's workshop, he's uncharacteristically quiet. tiptoeing across the floor, he looks around the workshop in wonderment. it doesn't matter how many times he comes here, he still loves it. this is iron man's home. this is where everything began. ]

[ he sees his back at his desk, head in his hands.
rather than go to him, peter stops and stands in front of a great robotic skeleton. he's pretty sure he shouldn't touch it—it looks like it could be for mr rhodey—but his hand reaches out and…
[ Well, no surprise there. Peter's smart, he's got a bright future, blah blah blah. Tony's 100% certain that Peter's going to go places. That science project is just the start.
And hey, if he shows that to him, he'll be over the moon while trying to play it cool. Because that's just what he does.
Right now, though, Tony's not doing too much of anything. He registers Peter calling him, but hey, killer migraine right now. It's making it a little difficult to do anything. ]

[ He barely gets out the greeting when a beeping sound starts and lights start to flash. A+ cure for a headache right there. ]
[ think, peter, think! what would karen have him say?
"yes, mr stark."
damn it! that's not what he wants to say.
quickly thinking with his mouth open and a prolonged ahhhh, peter's hadn't goes straight to the back of his neck. he swears he breaks out into a cold sweat that reeks of his impending death. ]
Yes… [ he croaks that out. clearing his throat, his voice deepens. ] I did. I'm sorry, Mr Stark. I didn't mean to touch what I shouldn't have touched… except I kind of did. Everything in here is so cool!
[ There's several ways Tony could respond to this, but the last thing he wants to do right now is drive Peter away. Sure, he's done it before with others, but it's different with him. How that works, he's not entirely sure, but he wants to keep Peter around, not scare him away. ]
Eh, whatever. It's fine, you're not even the only one who's touched it.
[ And that last comment earns Peter a half smile. ]
