[ The last few days have been brutal for Brooke. Deadlines at work have been killing her and, like normal, she's been butting heads and arguing constantly with her mother. Somedays she wonders why she ever let Victoria be part of Clothes Over Bro's and this week, it's a question that is constantly plaguing her, keeping her up at night when all she wants to do is sleep.
It's why she's so thankful Dick is here tonight, warm and solid against her. She always sleeps better with someone else in her bed, but especially him these days. Although the fact that he's still wearing a shirt when normally he wouldn't has her slightly worried, even as her fingers toy with the hem of it. ]
It's not always cold, you know. [ Shifting slightly, Brooke rests her chin on his chest so she can look up at him. ] Back home, in the summer, the rain is actually pretty warm usually. [ She doesn't talk much about Tree Hill, though she misses it.
Her hand slips beneath his shirt, just so she can rest it against his skin. If he's not going to remove the offensive article of clothing, she has to get creative with the skin-to-skin contact she's used to with him. ]
I think you're just grumpy tonight. [ Her tone is teasing, although it's also an invitation for Dick to talk about whatever has him brooding extra hard tonight, should he want to. ]
[ inhaling sharply, he sucks in his stomach and remains still. he doesn't move away; her touch is often ticklish. if the bad guys of gotham knew nightwing's one big weakness was being tickled, he's pretty sure he would've been sent into an early retirement or grave by now. (death by being tickled doesn't sound overly impressive as any other way of dying.) ]
Aren't I always grumpy?
[ he furrows his brows as he considers it. he is, he knows, but he's also brightened up and become lively with brooke. donna often remarks about how he's learned to move his face and smile after he's spoken to her on the phone or gotten a text from her. it embarrasses dick, the things donna says. ]
You like me grumpy, right? Should I try and smile more?
[ and, with that, he pulls the most awkward smile he can manage. 😬 he doesn't want her to worry. ]
