set early s6!

[ the guilt crushes her, much like she imagines rocks from an avalanche. she feels herself split wide open enough to be a gaping wound—and that's what she is, except she's a walking one.

barry had gone to great lengths to retrieve nora's jacket for her. she knows this. even with this irrefutable fact in hand, iris can't help but hide it. the purple angers her, the shoulders are far too sharp for her own—every time to tries to wear it to get closer to nora, she feels like it's weighing her down and cutting into her as if the fabric's made of knives. it doesn't smell like her, either.

since's nora's disintegration—it can't be a death, she's not completely gone—iris has refused to wear purple. tonight she does, with a nice purple camisole that's almost as vibrant as xs' jacket.

she pulls barry closer on their walk through the city. it had started with no destination in mind, but iris has been gently steering him toward the park where he'd played baseball last year. it's not to bring up any painful memories—she had simply wanted to leave their loft and go for a walk, but she hadn't wanted to go alone. some part of her suspects barry had been feeling the same. ]

When was the last time we just went for a walk?

[ she peers up at him as if he's a skyscraper. pursing her lips and feigning confusion, she teases, ] I forgot what you look like outside of the lab.
